Dance Appalachia began through filming dancers at festivals, competitions, jams, and gatherings across Appalachia and the American South. The goal is to help celebrate and preserve the many regional styles, rhythms, and traditions that continue to live through these communities — while also introducing new audiences around the world to the beauty and spirit of old-time dance.
