Dance Appalachia
Preserving Tradition.
Sharing It With the World.
Dance Appalachia celebrates the dancers who keep the rhythms alive while welcoming new people into the tradition.
What is Dance Appalachia?
Dance Appalachia began as a place to celebrate the incredible dancers of the Appalachian percussive dance tradition. What started as a simple page sharing videos from dances and festivals has grown into a global community of people discovering these rhythms for the first time.
Today, Dance Appalachia continues to highlight the dancers and communities who keep the tradition alive while creating a welcoming place for new people to begin learning.
This is more than dance. It's a living tradition.
Appalachian dance is more than movement—it’s rhythm, history, and culture passed down through generations.
For years, this tradition lived in small communities, shared between musicians and dancers who carried it forward.
It’s our responsibility to preserve it—and to share it beyond those boundaries.
Dance Appalachia is how we keep that tradition alive, while inviting a new generation to step in and learn.
